Ed Hodgkinson
Ed Hodgkinson (1973)
When studying Hodgkinson's work what stands out the most to me is the movement of his art. The movement and shape of the model he draws and paints is cleverly captured through one continuous line. The simplicity of the drawing allows the viewer to look and focus on the shape and emotion of the art, this is created by the position of the models he draws and the facial expressions shown very minimally. I have noticed that almost all of the paintings and drawings of people have no objects in the background, and he almost always focuses on only one person in his drawings at a time. This suggests that the artist wants to focus on the person and how he can display that person and their feelings effectively without adding intense detail.
