St Damos is an illustrator, he mainly focuses on portraits. Damos has a unique style of sketching, his work has a rough cartoon style, and he uses lines in his sketches and builds and builds on these lines to create the different textures and shades of the face. St Damos bases his drawings on lines and shapes similar to Ed Hodgkinson, however there are some major differences in the style and way the lines are used between these two artists. Damos's use of line is bold and has a more powerful tone to it, creating shade and solid textures, if you look at his portraits as a whole it looks like a shaded solid picture, until you get closer and see the detail in each individual line that is used to build the faces features. Ed Hodgkingson however uses one continuous line, and has a minimal amount of detail in his drawings and paintings, only using the solid background colour to contrast with the black line in his portraits and pictures. Hodgkingson's lines are more soft, and has less of a bold impact to the eye, yet the viewer still can appreciate it's simplicity.
